The Sapele & Ash Table
Stilts Redesigned
The first of my ‘wooden hairpin leg’ range is made of sapele from a reclaimed door and ash that came from a stilt maker’s discard pile.
It was almost a year after making the top before I came up with a design for the legs which would support it in a way that works structurally but wouldn’t detract from its sense of lightness.
This table has now become the inspiration for a growing range of beautiful tables.
SPECS:
The table is made from sapele recovered from an old front door and ash rescued from the burn pile at a local stilt makers workshop.
It stands 45.5cm high, is 42.5cm wide and 133cm long.
