This workshop is for people who would like to take on some simple DIY around the house but don’t feel they have the confidence to use basic hand and power tools safely and who want to learn how to do so.

The day begins with my favorite woodman’s tool, the draw knife (see picture below, bottom left), before moving on to more familiar DIY tools. We’ll run through some simple DIY techniques, look at what makes up a good, basic tool kit and what to look for when buying tools. We’ll also run through appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and start to look at different hardware, fixings, glues and finishes.

There has to be some structure for safety’s sake but there’s no set pace to the day or need to spend more or less time with any one tool than you want.

The workshop runs on a Saturday between 10 am and 3 pm costing £60 pp. Each day is normally limited to four students, however if you would like to book as a group of friends I am happy to do this on any day of the week and teach up to 6 people at a time. Group bookings cost £200 for 4 people, £230 for 5 people and £260 for 6 people.

The only difference between the two days is the length of the workshop and the amount of practice time you get.
